SC/ST Cell

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. They include all castes, races, or tribes declared as scheduled castes and tribes by the Constitution of India. The Commission is providing financial assistance to the Universities to establish a Special Cell for SC/STs during the Xth plan period and has directed all the universities and colleges. This Cell aims to help the college implement the reservation policy regarding the admission of students and the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff at various levels. Its function is also to help the SC/ST categories integrate with the mainstream of the college community and to remove difficulties that they may be experiencing. The main aim of the Cell is to monitor the guidelines issued by the MHRD, the UGC and the government of Gujarat from time to time. The Cell ensures the effective implementation of the reservation policies in the college.

Objectives

  • Follow-up measures should be taken to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India, HMRD, and the UGC.
  • To implement, monitor, and continuously evaluate the reservation policy in the college and plan measures to ensure effective implementation of the policy and programme of the Government of India.

Activities

  • The SC/ST Cell was established in the college to coordinate with the university authorities in implementing the various policies and programmes launched by the State Government to benefit the SC/ST students.
  • It also undertakes activities to develop awareness among SC/ST students, especially from rural areas. The Cell staff are actively coordinating and solving the problems in admissions matters.
  • They also announce details of government scholarships and fellowships through circulars to the SC/ST students.

OBC Cell

The OBC Cell is established in the college to empower OBC students and support them in their academic and extracurricular pursuits set up to integrate students from these communities into the mainstream. The Cell ensures their comprehensive development, significantly contributing to societal progress.

Objectives

  • To ensure equal educational opportunities for OBC students.
  • To facilitate access to financial support from governmental agencies and other entities for students of these communities.
  • To inform OBC students about the various scholarship schemes offered by the state/central government.
  • To provide immediate counseling for any emotional crises resulting from events on the college campus.
  • To ensure the college adheres to the reservation policy established by the state/central government rules.     

Minority Cell

Minority cell was established to empower the minority community in the college. The Minority cell assists students of minority community and facilitates a conducive learning environment with other caste and creed at college.The Minority Cell basically helps minority students including Christian, Muslim, Jain, Buddhists etc. for their academic development and ensure the availability of equal rights in their academics.

Activities

The cell is actively engaged in coordinating and resolving the problems.The Cell is committed in coordinating and resolving the problems of minority community students in their academics. Cell is executing different events for the development of skills among the minority students. Cell circulates various amendments given by state government and UGC’s decision.

  • To create awareness among minority students about various scholarships given by the government and other agencies.
  • To provide protection and reservation as available in the constitution of India.
  • To encourage enrollment of minority students which would enhance awareness among the students.
  • To impart guidance of various opportunities which would be helpful in career development.
